Ashtanga Yoga is continuously inspiring and interesting to me and has become the system I run my life by. It is a deeply rooted practice that has brought me wonderful health benefits. Personally I have suffered through injuries including multiple painful herniated disc issues that left me unable to even walk for periods of time, but with consistent practice over the years I am feeling healthy and strong & am again able to do deep backbending;  deeper and stronger than ever before.  I am still adding new asanas to my practice that are challenging to me and I am enjoying the process very much. Each practice brings deeper insight into to my own nature and the nature of the world as well as how to move and hold my body with deeper awareness. I plan on being a student of Ashtanga Yoga for the rest of my life.

Beginners: Mysore and the hour long evening classes are the perfect way to start a new practice. Please know you are welcome to attend class and see if it is a good fit for you! Also feel free to speak with me after or before class time.

All my classes are held at The Front Climbing Club which is such a fun and supportive place to get in and stay in shape. Memberships are only $79 a month and include unlimited yoga classes, climbing, weight and exercise rooms, and state of the art training equipment, showers, sauna wifi and just a cool place to hang out, get fit and meet new people! You can even bring your dog! You don’t have to be a member to drop in— drop in classes are only $15 each for non-members and your first class is free. This place is the best kept secret in SLC for yoga and has a thriving yoga and climbing community.

The birthplace of all contemporary styles of vinyasa and flow yoga, this method is the first known yoga method to sync flowing body movements with breath; legend says the same Ashtanga sequences we practice today originated around 5000 years ago with the enlightened Rishis of India.

Learn the fundamentals of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India with Sarah Jane.  Your body will soon be stronger, more supple and relaxed, and your mind will feel more grounded with a much greater sense of awareness.  Practicing more than once a week is highly recommended, as you will see faster progress practicing the whole sequence after you’ve learned each part in depth.
